People are social creatures and we grow more in our faith when we walk alongside others - just as Jesus did.  We therefore encourage people to join the small groups which can help with discipleship.  There are quite a few to choose from:

  • What happens when I die? Is there a God? Can Science and Christianity go hand in hand? We all have questions like these and others, so this is an opportunity to discuss them and explore some possible answers in an informal environment where every question is welcome.

  • Want to know more about Riverside Church and what it means to a member? Come along to our More to Explore lunch where you’ll have the chance to ask any questions you have, meet others who’re finding out more and chat with the senior leaders.

  • Many of our congregation members find it beneficial to be part of a Prayer Triplet. These are organised so that people of the same gender meet together as frequently as that group wants to.

  • These usually meet fortnightly and they provide an opportunity to dive deeper into the teaching we receive on Sunday mornings, as well as to form friendships with a smaller group of people.

  • This group, which includes people who don’t attend Riverside Church, meets once a month at 8 am on Saturday for a cooked breakfast and a very short talk. Book ahead for food for the body and soul.

  • The ladies of the church, along with friends from elsewhere, also meet once a month on a Saturday at 8.30 am for a buffet breakfast and a short talk. Book ahead and come for some food for thought.

  • We have a number of prayer groups, each of which has a slightly different focus. One meets before the service on Sunday mornings and prays for a wide range of issues, Tuesday morning is time to pray for the prodigals and meanwhile, those with a heart for the persecuted church pray together - but separately!

  • lifeROCK is Evangelical Christian Bible teaching, aiming to be more in-depth than what is possible in a Sunday-morning service, whilst still being accessible to the average Christian. The peculiar spelling of lifeROCK stems from the conviction that the Bible is the inspired word of God, which is the big ROCK that we build our little lives upon.

lifeROCK affirms the Apostles' Creed, the UCCF Doctrinal Basis, and the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith. The current series, Unpacking John, currently runs on the third Friday of the month, 7:30 to 9:00 pm in the back room.
